Move-In Ready Homes

If you didn’t already know this, builders tend to offer the best deals on their inventory homes, or move-in ready homes. This is because they want to sell these homes quickly since the builder is having to pay property taxes and possibly HOA fees on ready homes. So, they are more likely to reduce the sales prices and offer other incentives on these homes.

So, whether you’re looking for brand new homes with incentives in San Antonio, or any suburb of San Antonio, I’ll help you find the homes with the best deals!

Building a Custom Home in San Antonio, Texas

If you’re considering building a custom home in Canyons at Scenic Loop, or anywhere in the San Antonio area, let’s take a quick look at exact steps to building your home.

  • Selecting your home building team – this not only includes the builder, architect and construction team, but also your real estate agent. You will want a competent team of knowledgeable professionals that can help guide and advise you through this process.
  • Planning and design – This is the fun (and a little bit stressful) part! Your architect and design team will help you create the home of your dreams, and budget for all of the features and customizations.
  • Obtaining permits and site preparation – Building plans will be submitted for necessary approvals. This can sometimes be the slowest moving part of the process when you are anxious to see progress, but it’s unavoidable.
  • Foundation and framing – The foundation preparation and framing are so exciting to see! Besides being a critical part of the build process, it’s also a physical indication that your dream home is underway.
  • Enclosing the structure – Windows, doors, roofing & masonry work – all of these items will start to make the exterior of your home take shape.
  • Interior work – Builder will install plumbing, electrical & HVAC components. Then insulation will be installed for temperature & sound regulation. Walls, flooring & ceilings will be completed to advance the progress on the interior of your home.
  • Finishing touches – Cabinetry, countertops & other built in features will be added. The paint/trim and fixture installation is where you really start to get excited!
  • Landscaping and irrigation – Of course you’ll want the curb appeal! This is usally one of the last steps, but can add a huge impact to the exterior appearance of your soon-to-be-home.
  • Final inspections – When the construction process is complete, and before closing, you will want to hire a third party inspector to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations. They will also check HVAC, plumbing, electrical outlets & much more to test that they are functioning properly.
  • Closing and move-in – Your patience during the custom home building process has paid off, and now it’s time to close and get the keys to your brand new home!

Building a custom home in San Antonio (or anywhere) needs careful planning and coordination. There are many moving parts, and tons of scenarios. This is why it is SO important that you have a realtor buy your side to guide you through all of the many steps. And also to represent your best interests during the contract, negotiation and build process.
